The International Olympic Committee (IOC) registered “五輪” (5 rings) in total of 22 categories including chemicals, cosmetics, programs, incinerators and bicycles etc.
Since in Japan “五輪” is well-known as a word expressing the Olympic Games, people who have misused it have been subject to penalties under Unfair Competition Prevention Act.
Now IOC is able to warn in a more comprehendible manner for those who misuse it.
Even if you are joking, you would be better not to use ”五輪” in the name of your product or service.
